The Charlotte Copperheads’ Brian Welch has earned the Professional Lacrosse League’s Player of the Week honors based on his performance last Friday in an 18-10 against the visiting Reading Rockets.  The transition player notched two goals and three assists while registering a staggering 21 loose balls and seven caused turnovers.welchpow

A 2009 graduate from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY, Welch was a member of both the 2007 Division II National Championship and 2009 Second Team Division II All-American teams.

“Brian missed our October 6th game due to a personal commitment. On Friday his performance was inspiring. 21 loose balls is ridiculous and I think seven caused turnovers is actually a conservative number. Our team played well and Brian was a huge part of that,” said Copperheads’ Head Coach, Tom Ryan.

“I was just excited to be able to contribute to a great team win,” said Welch. “I was proud of the way our team came together and fought hard throughout the game. We all had each others’ backs out there and it showed,” he added.
